You live the unwavering truths of servitude by the sword, Bushido. Bushido has eight principles. For each principle the character lives by they gain stat bonuses. The principles are inherently difficult to live by, in these cases the or means to strive for both in all things but at all costs do not live without one for the other is the virtue provided by the means. The benefits of bushido are ten fold, beyond the virtue there is the power of an unfettered mind. If at any point the character loses their way and fails to follow the principles they lose the stat bonus – having .5 strength does not round up.

Skill:
You are trained in meditation and philosophy.
  • Benevolence or Mercy: +1 intellect.
  • Character and Self Control: +1 speed.
  • Rectitude or Justice: + .5 might.
  • Courage: + .5 might.
  • Politeness: +.5 intellect.
  • Honesty and Sincerity: +.5 intellect.
  • Honor: +.5 speed.
  • Loyalty: +.5 speed.

We say that:

If one puts his mind in the action of his opponent’s body, his mind will be taken by the action of his opponent’s body.
If he puts his mind in his opponent’s sword, his mind will be taken by that sword.
If he puts his his mind in thoughts of his opponent’s intention to strike him, his mind will be taken by thoughts of his opponent’s intention to strike him.
If he puts his mind in his own sword, his mind will be taken by his own sword.
If he puts his mind in his own intention of not being struck, his mind will be taken by the intention of not being struck.
If he puts his mind in the other man’s stance, his mind will be taken by the other man’s stance.

What this means is that there is no place to put the mind.
Right-mindedness is non other than virtue.

This is kind of cool, though I’d recommend you change the title. Official rules aside, it just sounds good to have an Adjective, Noun, who verbs.

      Hmm.
Okay let me think about it.

I like this one much better. I think it’s good to give big benefits to roleplay heavy descriptors such as this one. This would work great too if someone wanted to play a monk style character.

          Thanks for your feedback.

I’ve been thinking about the .5 bonus. Would it be too much book keeping if a .5 meant you would win ties in opposed Strength contests or actions which purely use strength?

  2. Andrew Kalmar says:

    Might, not ‘strength’.
