Description
The brilliance of nature’s palette forms the source of your power. Whether through biomechanical modification or nano-spirit possession you can absorb chromatic hues through a simple touch. Your body responds automatically to the infusion of pigment, speeding your reactions, strengthening your body and sharpening your senses. Your eyes possess perfect chromatic perception, allowing you to pick out even the slightest variation in tone. As your power grows colours take on tastes and smells; the slightest blending of tone and hue can produce entire new sensations. The demands of your ability keep you on the move, always seeking new and stronger hues and leaving a monochromatic trail behind you. Glaives and Jacks tend to benefit most from the physical enhancements of this focus.

Interesting, but it could a little less repetition. ‘Oh, hey, now I can absorb blue. Whoop dee doo.’ Maybe allow you to absorb the primary colors (Red, blue, yellow) at tier one, then the secondary colors (Orange, green, purple), then white and black, and then give you some more interesting abilities like Chromatic Vortex or Color Beam.
As is, it’s rather boring. And I’m not sure I like that the main ability is free to use. The concept could be interesting, but it needs a lot more variation.
I can see it now. An artist/dye smith who carries around his works of art with him and drains them of color to fight off his enemies.
It’s a wip, I was thinking along the lines of an internal buff focus that compliments the characters fighting moves / tricks of the trade / esoteries. Balance being that while the more common colours are fairly available (green for example) the rarer colours (purple) don’t occur often even in the Ninth World.
So while at 6th Tier you could reduce a task by 12 levels with effort, you would probably eat through your characters supply of coloured trinkets and stored temporary points doing so.
The free use of the siphon ability balances out this way as well, sure you can use it all the time, but only when it has a viable target that you can touch with bare skin. A bright red flag would be a great Might resource, but not if its up a flagpole at the top of a castle. That and it wouldnt really make sense to have a point gain power, cost points to use.
I was considering doing something with luminosity (black & white) and perhaps sub-red and ultraviolet, but I hadn’t settled on an aspect of the character they could change.
why hello, marceline. good to see around.
